Mark is a Consultant Anaesthetist in Chester, having been originally appointed in 1991. Graduated from Nottingham in 1980, with postgraduate training in Nottingham, Bristol, Sheffield, and New Zealand, he underwent subsequent formal consultant appointment process to take on the role of Director of Day Surgery in Chester in 2000.
An enthusiastic proponent of evidence based practice in Short Stay Surgery, he has developed the British Association of Day Surgery reference database and Efficiency Assessment Tool, and was a recent recipient of the Association's Fellowship award and President's Prize.
Appointed to Council of BADS in 2008, and now Editor of the Journal of One Day Surgery, in his spare time, Mark is also an accredited Director and Assessor for Adult and Paediatric Resuscitation Courses, expert member of the Cheshire Research and Ethics Committee, and the ongoing benefactor to three teenage children and a dysfunctional dog called Dylan.
